Expectations: To find out the needs and difficulties of the community and help out in ways that i can for example, volunteering myself in programmes that are subsidized and/or pro-bonos.

Expectation: To have a progress in maintaining a healthy lifestyle such as watching out on my diet and also trying my best to avoid harmful substances such as cigarettes and alcoholic drinks a, develop a healthy habits to improve both out physical and emotion well-being, by achieving this, I aspire to visit the gym at least 3 times a week. in alternative to gymming, I could also be more active in my basketball club, in terms of emotion well-being, i want to find a purpose and meaning in life and try to reach for them so i would constantly feel like i always have to push myself in addition to that, i would want to manage my stress appropriately .

SERVICE LEARNING

For service learning portion i am looking at getting myself exposed to a lot of volunteering work , as we all know CAMP CHALLENGE does many CSR / PRO-BONO / SUBSIDISED programs to give back to the society, i will take this opportunity to attach myself to the programs and do my part to make a change in the less fortunate individuals!

HEALTHY LIVING

For healthy living segment, i am going to take up running & Gym as part of my keeping fit regime to maintain a healthy lifestyle !
For gymming – 2 days per week ( 2 hours )
– gym to achieve a fitter & nicer looking body!

For running – 2 days a week ( progressive from 2km , targetted 24 km )
– run to keep fit and also to push myself beyond my limits !

COMMUNITY LEADERSHIP INITIATIVE 

This is going to be a very important segment of NYAA GOLD,
i am planning to tap on CAMP CHALLENGE to outreach to their beneficiaries for me to come in to plan out a program for them to reach a specific objective!

To serve in a manner whereby I am able to behave professionally, assist and at the same time providing the platform and opportunities for participants from various groups to learn and most importantly have fun.

How am I going to achieve the expectation that I have set for myself?

Taking part in more subsidized programs provided by Camp Challenge as well as taking the initiative to outsource for volunteery works that are available here in Singapore and being a part of it.

What is healthy living about? As stated, it aims to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle that allows us to get through our daily activities.

Why is it so important?

It is to help us maintain an overall wellness. In a stressful working and living environment where everything is so fast paced and there is hardly time for a breather, it is important to maintain overall wellness of not only the body but the mind as well.

Now the question would be, how am I going to go about doing it?

Creating a schedule for myself is possible, however I do not believe that, that is something that should be forced upon. Going along with my own pace in doing recreational activities such as kayaking or even climbing whilst still clocking in the hours would be the most ideal situation for me.

Why NYAA?
NYAA provides a platform for youths like me to develop myself as an individual and will help me in my future. Through NYAA i hope to be able to gain skills which will further enhance myself and also to make use of my youth wisely.

How to?
Taking up NYAA gold, i aim to achieve all of the segments within the time period of 18 months. Through this 18 months i will be working along with a timeline for different segments. Working and adapting along the way, to fit in the schedule as well as discover many different qualities that is not yet discovered within me. Also, being in touch with Camp Challenge, which will provide me with lots of opportunities to complete the different segments.

Healthy Living
Why?
Through the engagement of sports and physical activities, I want to gain better leverage over my own physical health and be in charge of it. Other than that, these activities can also act as a piece of break time for myself in the busy work life/School. Most activities done under these segments will be my area of interest.

How?
For gold segment, 48 hours within the time span of 18 month. Since i am extremely sporty person, i indulge myself with activity such as pick up basketball and cycling from time to time. These activities are mainly my area of interest. So through these 18 months, i will be gradually progressing my time of activity. Calculating by every 2 weeks. From start till end, significantly growing in intensity and frequency, definitely, hitting the required hours. Also belaying as one of my physical training activity is provided through working with Camp Challenge.

Why?
It has always been my passion to guide and make an impact to people’s life. These component of NYAA will not only be able to develop my own leadership skills, but also fulfilling my own’s desire and passion.

How?
Camp challenge will be able to provide me with platforms to get in touch with beneficiaries for the project. These opportunities can help me to get in touch with clients that has the perfect platform for me to illustrate leadership skills from starting till end. And these include different phases of it fully taken charge by myself, or my team. Planning of the program , setting objectives and execution phases. These will not only create a learning outcome for both the beneficiaries, and myself but also to create an impact lasting a long time.
Putting these as my upmost priorities as these is what got me engaged into NYAA. Achieving these by the end of year 2018.

Outdoor appreciation
Why?
For these segment, I hope to gather outdoor skills and experience to truly be an outdoor person.
These segments allows me to go outside of my comfort zone and try something new and gain important knowledge.

How?
Camp Challenge offers the chance to go on an expedition based journey, named Adventurous Journey. These will help to clock the 36 hours required for the gold segment. Over a span of 4 days expedition.

Service
Why?
To develop myself as an individual which is able to be socially responsible and contribute back to the society.

How?
To create a time line for myself, and to constantly get in touch with Camp Challenge as they provides a platform for these volunteering project. These projects includes both Pro-bono programs as well as Corporate Social Responsibility programs.

In conclusion, I hope to learn these above stated skills through the experience that different segments will be offering to me, and using the conquering of these segments as a beginning to the next phase of my life.

Expectations: From service learning i would like to give back to the society. Meaning that, this is an opportunity to meet people from different society to get together to provide a better living.

How?

I will be tagged in a probono/csr programme. ‘Probono’ meaning that the programme is subsidized programme this is mostly happens under camp challenge.

Healthy Living

Expectations: I want to be able to sustain a healthy lifestyle, not forcing but to understanding and make it into a habit. My body needs to be able to adapt to changes of activities and intensities of what i am doing on a daily basis.

How?

Heading to the gym atleast twice per week with different exercise and incresing repetitions.

Expectation: to use the opportunity by giving back to the community, appreciate the community and opening up exposure to various culture, classes towards poverty,inequality, and other world issue.

How?

Participate in the Youth Expedition Project Oversea to seek oversea and cultural exposure towards how children/students oversea  who are under privileged are living, and use the opportunity to provide assistance and learning for them.

Other than that, also through local community work, such as volunteering with NPOs to give back to the local community such as doing Meal-On-Wheel Delivery with TOUCH Homecare.

Adventurous Journey

Expectation: to experience outdoor living, at the same time develop and improve on my leadership skill, adaptation, teamwork and review of my physical and mental strength while working in high stress environment

Planning Phase:

divide planning phase into three meeting. Meeting agenda will be breakdown of various roles and responsibilities, and plan on routes, safety evacuation, food and logistic breakdown, coming up and understanding with the whole timeline of the adventurous journey

and followed by the preparation of the logistic, the necessary precautions and finalizing of the planning before execution.

Day 1: Urban trekking from Sembawang Camp Challenge to Raffles Marina. Estimated time taken is 9 hour inclusive of breaks. Sleep over on boats at night.

Day2: Sailing to 1D15 from Morning to Afternoon, Dragonboat to Lazarus and forth Tanjong Site from Afternoon to Evening.Tent Pitching at Tanjong Site and Sleep over in Tent.

Day3: TCH ( Team Challenge Hourglass ) Accreditation and Night Sail to Raffles Marina

Day4: Morning Run, along with full debrief and closing on the whole AJ

Post AJ: Unpack of Logistics, reflect on journey and think of how experience can be applied and further improve upcoming AJ

Expectation: obtain a driving license and have a better understanding of the road safety

How?

Take up Driving Lesson class with Bukit Batok Driving Centre and study Road and Traffic Theory on my own.

Physical Recreation Section

Expectation: undertake a martial art and learn more about on self defense, fighting and sparring technique and improve physical fitness and form. Looking to grade and promote to higher belt level on more complex syllable

How?

Take up Martial Art CCA : Ninja-Do Kitagaryu with Ngee Ann Polytechnic and attend weekly training, and prepare for syllable grading for promotion to higher belts.

Residential Project

Expectation: learn to spread kindness and awareness of helping the under privileged, at the same time use the opportunity to shape and teach the secondary school boys on importance and the need for caring for the under-privileged.

Execution

undertake in Annual Boys’ Brigade Share-A-Gift project as a primer ( volunteer instructor ), will be taking charge of warehouse management, manpower distribution, assisting in delivery/collection of “gift”, alongside with other primer from various institutions.
